Become a trained wish-granting volunteer!

Wish granters work in teams of two to help make wishes come true. This role involves interviewing the child and family to determine the wish, working with staff to help fulfill the wish, helping the child stay engaged while waiting for the wish to happen and throwing a wish party when the wish is granted. Time commitment varies, depending on the type of wish and number of wishes you are involved with. The wish interview and granting almost always take place in the evening or on a weekend. We are looking for volunteers who can make a long-term commitment (minimum of one year).  (Minimum age:  21)

  • For Mike and Ginia, Make-A-Wish was a way to help others. They had granted wishes together, and she had served as an Iowa chapter board member. Make-A-Wish was already part of the family’s lives. But Mike and Ginia would soon discover first-hand what a wish experience can do for a family that’s exhausted and dispirited, when their own son's wish was granted. (Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties)
