Chapter History

Make-A-Wish® Greater Virginia is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been granting wishes since August 1987. Through fundraising and donor support, the Greater Virginia Chapter has been able to grant the wishes of more than 4,500 children.

Our Chapter territory covers the entire Commonwealth of Virginia except for the counties immediately surrounding Washington, D.C. For more information about that region, visit the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic website.

Latest Status Update

  • Moments after his wish to become a published author of a children’s book was granted, Christopher was overcome with joy. Battling cancer, the 18-year-old wrote "The Giant Who Played Checkers" in hopes of bringing "a little bit of peace" to other children during their hospital stays at Children's Health in Dallas, Texas. Christopher wants every child enduring illnesses to know that "it’s going to be okay!" (Make-A-Wish North Texas)
